Der Waldkircher Mixtape-Doktor DJ Tekxbe und die Offenburger Keep it Movin’ – DJ Turntable-Aktivisten-Crew (Funky K. & Illusion) gehen nach dem Erfolg der ersten „I LOVE FUNK & RAP“ Veranstaltung in die zweite Runde. Am 07.03.09 gibt es ab 21h im Furioso wieder Musik von Platte, die sich dem aktuellen Soundströmungen der Hybriden im HipHop zwischen Electro, Pop und R’n’B entgegenstellt. Ganz nach dem Motto „Back to Roots and Blockparty-Flavour“ bekommt man hier alles geboten was das traditionalistische HipHop-Herz begehrt und dem Funk in sich trägt. Dazu haben wir kurz die Initiatoren befragt.

1beat: Was erwartet die Gäste auf „I Love FUNK & RAP“ und welche Idee steht dahinter?

Funky K.: „Hypes gehen so schnell, wie sie gekommen sind. Man sollte sich immer treu bleiben, auch wenn Veranstaltungen mal leer bleiben. Man sollte sich nicht zu verbiegen und unbedingt aktuelle Musik spielen. Wir streben an die Leute dazu einzuladen sich auf die alten, guten Sachen einzulassen. Die alt Schule zwischen Funk, Soul, Disco & Rap bietet so viel guten Groove. Wir glauben an diesen Sound. Die Party soll die alten Heads wieder vereinen und wie allen anderen auch eine Alternative zum aktuellen Clubbing geben.“

DJ Tekxbe: „100% Boom Bap Qualität gemischt mit tanzbaren Breaks und deftigen Funktunes“.

DJ Illusion: „Hip Hop verkommt zum Mega-sell-out. Konzerte eines Popstars wie Bushido füllen
Stadien, B-boy jam´s interesieren keine sau mehr. Die Jugend von heute
bekommt nicht mehr die Werte vermittelt die man früher mitbekommen
hat.“

DJ Funky K.: „Arbeite hart und es macht sich bezahlt. Sei Original und kopiere nicht irgendjemanden der berühmt ist. HipHop ist Kreativität. Diese Kultur ist mehr als das, was man in den Massenmedien vermittelt bekommt. Die Kids auf der Straße kennen kein Wildstyle & Beatstreet mehr, wissen nicht mehr was Graffiti ist oder Beatboxin’. Die Kids sind zugedröhnt mit Medien und sehen nicht, dass HipHop viel mehr ist.

DJ Illusion: „ Wir werden vier bis sechs Mal im Jahr diese Party machen – egal wie groß der Andrang ist. Es liegt uns sehr viel daran“

DJ Tekxbe: „Hier treffen Krs One auf Kool & The Gang, Jackson Five auf Rakim und Run Dmc auf James Brown. Wir spielen nur authentische, satte Tunes. Ein Mixtape von uns wird bald kommen.“

Information zur Show:

Craig's career began at the age of 12 when he won The Guardian Poetry Award. The runner up was 33 years old! He performed as a warm-up act for bands in Liverpool, and made his TV debut performing his poetry on Riverside and Wogan.

Craig is recognised the world over as Dave Lister - the curry-devouring, last-surviving human in BBC 2's hugely popular sci-fi sitcom Red Dwarf. He has also been seen and heard as a performer or presenter on a whole host of programmes as diverse as Through The Keyhole, The Bill, Radio 4's Kaleidoscope and of course the irresistible carnage of Robot Wars.

In the past Craig has been a member of the Royal Shakespeare Company, has toured his stand-up show and done panto (in Dick Whittington). He continues to front his own band, The Eye.
