Some other news: 1. My new resident night "Fresh & FUnky" was starting last weekend at Waldsee Freibugr. And it was a very good kick-off and much fun. We will go on February 26th. And maybe we will have a special guest-DJ in March. I keep ou posted. 2. My first mash-up "Quincy & Cakes - Bobby Good Love" was released on vinyl on Manmade Rec. last week. Check it out. 3. Starting to do some more remixes. 4. A new Geriba EP will be released on Innvision Rec. soon feat. the vocals of Freiburgs finest DnB MC Fava and containing remixes by Ed Royal and Quincy Jointz. 5. Sr. de Funk and me are working on a EP which will be released on Timewarp Music in some months (incl. remixes by DJ Max & Gabb and Stereo 77). 6. Quincy Jointz - Praia de Geriba - remixed Vol. 2 will be released on Timewarp Music in March. So there´s somethign going on here ;-)

LCD Soundsystem geben ihre sehnsüchtig erwartete Rückkehr auf die Bühne bekannt und veröffentlichen das neue Album im Mai.

Bei ihrer anstehenden Tournee im April und Mai 2010 werden sie nach einem Auftritt beim diesjährigen Coachella Arts Festival in Palm Springs, Kalifornien, bei dem sie am 16. April neben Jay-Z als Headliner auftreten, zum ersten Mal seit 2007 nach Großbritannien sowie nach Irland und Kontinentaleuropa zurückkehren.

Das einzige Konzert in Deutschland findet am 06.Mai im Berliner WMF statt. Die Karten gehen am Freitag, dem 22.02., in den Vorverkauf.

James Murphy arbeitet gerade emsig im DFA Plantain Studio, New York, wo er letzte Hand an das lange erwartete dritte LCD Soundsystem-Album legt. Die Aufnahmen entstanden im Sommer 2009 in einem provisorisch ausgestatteten Studio in einer alten Villa in LA mit Unterstützung einer ständig wechselnden Serie von Freunden und Kollegen. Das Album erscheint im Mai bei DFA Records/Parlophone, gleichzeitig mit dem Original-Soundtrack, den James für Noah Baumbachs neuen Film ‚Greenberg’ mit Ben Stiller in der Hauptrolle geschrieben hat. ‚Greenberg’ kommt ebenfalls in diesem Frühjahr in die Kinos und ist Murphys Debüt als Soundtrack-Komponist.

Ähnlich wie ihr selbstbetiteltes Debüt (2005), legte auch LCDs zweites Album Sound Of Silver (2007) die Messlatte ziemlich hoch an und wurde in seinem Erscheinungsjahr in einer HMV-Umfrage von britischen Musikkritikern zum Album des Jahres gewählt. Erst kürzlich wurde es vom Rolling Stone, dem NME, dem Observer und mehr Zeitschriften und Websites als man hier anführen könnte zu einem der bedeutendsten Alben des letzten Jahrzehnts gekürt.

Die Kalifornische Latinorap-Gruppe Cypress Hill signen bei Priority Records. Nach fast 19 Jahren trennt man sich von Columbia Records, über das Label kamen bisher alle Alben. Neben den verschieden Sideprojekten der Mitglieder Muggs, Sen Dog udn B-Real arbeiteten die Drei in den vergangenen Jahrenan ihr 8. Studio-Album, das den Titel "Rise Up" tragen wird. Es ist für den 6. April dieses Jahres angekündigt. Premo, The Alchemist, Mike Shinoda (Linkin Park/Fort Minor) und RATM-Gitarist Tom Morello sollen neben weiteren Gästen an der LP mitgearbeitet haben. Cypress Hill gehören zu den bekanntesten HipHop-Künstlern überhaupt.

Beatfrickler deutscher Landen haben eine Plattform für ihre Kunst auf dem Kölner Label MPM gefunden. Dort konnte man sich auf den ersten zwei Folgen der Reihe "Hi-Hat Club" davon überzeugen, das Samplekunst und Beatmaking traditioneller Ausrichtung nicht tot ist und viel Potential hat.

NEW YORK—The following is a statement by Wyclef Jean on today’s magnitude 7.0 earthquake outside Port-au-Prince, Haiti: “Haiti today faced a natural disaster of unprecedented proportion, an earthquake unlike anything the country has ever experienced.

The magnitude 7.0 earthquake – and several very strong aftershocks – struck only 10 miles from Port-au-Prince.

I cannot stress enough what a human disaster this is, and idle hands will only make this tragedy worse. The over 2 million people in Port-au-Prince tonight face catastrophe alone. We must act now.

President Obama has already said that the U.S. stands ‘ready to assist’ the Haitian people. The U.S. Military is the only group trained and prepared to offer that assistance immediately. They must do so as soon as possible. The international community must also rise to the occasion and help the Haitian people in every way possible.”

We are asking those interested to please do one of two things: Either you can use your cell phone to text “Yele” to 501501, which will automatically donate $5 to the Yele Haiti Earthquake Fund (it will be charged to your cell phone bill), or you can visit Yele.org and click on DONATE.

Wärmstens empfehlen wir von der Redaktion 1beat.de für das neue Jahr die neue Resident-Clubnight unseres Mannes Dirk aka DJ Quincy Jointz.

Es wurde auch Zeit, dass der international gebuchte und renommierte Plattendreher und NuBreaks-Produzent in Freiburg gebührend gefeiert werden kann. Die Älteren unter uns werden vielleicht noch seine "International Freeridin'"-Clubreihe im Jos Fritz kennen. Andere werden unvergessliche Nächte bei Tag1 im Waldsee noch lebhaft in Erinnerung haben. Hier gibts satte Downbeats, NuJazz, Drum'n'Bass, knackiger Funk und ordentlicher HipHop auf die Ohren. Quincys Mash-ups und eigene Beats nicht zu vergessen.
